Fenland MP Steve Barclay makes speedy return to the Cabinet in Boris Johnson reshuffle

MP Steve Barclay has been re-appointed to the Cabinet following a reshuffle by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The Conservative MP for North East Cambridgeshire, which covers large parts of Fenland, lost his job as Brexit Secretary when the Department for Exiting the European Union closed on January 31 to coincide with the UK leaving the EU.

But it was today (Thursday) announced that he has been appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury and will attend Cabinet.

Mr Barclay was previously a Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Care and Economic Secretary to the Treasury.

He also served as a Government Whip for 11 months.

The Conservative MP was first elected in May 2010 and was comfortably re-elected in Decmber’s General Election.
