Change to Bishop's Road works to ease congestion in Peterborough

Temporary traffic lights will not be used in Bishop's Road today (Thursday, March 9) after motorists suffered long delays 24 hours earlier.

A Peterborough City Council spokesman said: “The decision follows the delays that the traffic management contributed to in the city centre yesterday during off-peak hours.

“Instead we will ensure that traffic can flow in both directions along Bishop’s Road.”

Motorists yesterday faced “gridlock” with queues backing up along Bourges Boulevard, over the Queensgate roundabout and over Crescent Bridge.

There were also lengthy queues in London Road.

The roadworks are all part of a £1.3 million upgrade to Bishop’s Road details of which can be found here.
