Police hunt for men who used crossbow in Deeping St James barber shop raid

Two men were seen breaking a window with a paving slab at HeadKase Barbers in Marvell Court, Crowson Way, at about 5.50am on Saturday.

The men then got inside and threatened someone with a crossbow before leaving.

Two men and a 14-year-old youth were arrested and questioned by police but they were eliminated from the enquiry, along with a vehicle seen in the area at the time of the attack.

A barber at the salon, who asked not to be named, said: “Someone just came round and smashed my window and a £2,500 (barber’s) chair for no reason.

“I had forensics people here and they just rubbed a bit of powder over the chair and smashed window.

“The police hold some information and I hope they find who did it, but I’m just going to try to ignore everything that’s happened.”

“It’s a bit difficult to come to work and see your business smashed to bits.”

Despite the attack, the barber was able to open the salon for business as usual later on Saturday morning and a Lincolnshire Police spokesman said they had “limited descriptions” of the two men they are looking for.

The spokesman said: “We were called to a barber’s shop on Crowson Way at 6.30am in response to a report that, at 5.50am, two men were seen to break a window and threatened a witness with a crossbow.

“Limited descriptions of the offenders are of a taller male in dark coloured clothing and a shorter male in lighter coloured clothing.

“Local officers were in the area following the burglary, talking to residents in case of any community concern.”
