Police hunt man after burglar assaults woman in her own home

Detectives are looking for a burglar who assaulted a woman after being caught in her home.

The victim, who is in her 60s, had gone to bed when she heard her dogs whimpering downstairs at about 11pm yesterday.

As she got to the bottom of the stairs a man walked out of her lounge, assaulted her and made off from the property in Peartree Close, Fenstanton.

The woman was shocked and shaken but not injured. Nothing is believed to have been stolen.

The burglar was described as six foot, white, and wearing a black bomber jacket, blue jeans and red plastic-looking sports shoes.

It is believed the burglar got in through an unlocked door.
