Ms Rayner had three children. In a statement issued last week, her family said: “Laraine was a cheerful, happy lady who was always there for other people.

“She would often come out with one line comments that would make people laugh. She will be sadly missed by all the family.”

The arrested man was being treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Cambridgeshire police have extended the time they can question him for another 12 hours until approximately 4am tomorrow (Wednesday, May 4).

Anyone with information is asked to call DI Lucy Thomson on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or via crimestoppers-uk.org.
