A farmer from Cowbit avoided a cat-astrophy after hearing a tiny meow coming from a wood pile on his farm.
Gren Owen said some of the logs were very heavy and had to be moved carefully to see where the meow was coming from.
He said: “I heard a tiny meow coming from the woodpile but with some of the logs weighing 50-60lbs, I had to move each log with great care.
“Right down at the bottom I found three kittens, hardly a day or so old. They were very lucky.
“There was no sign of the mum anywhere. We are out in the middle of nowhere and we don’t own a cat.
“I’m feeding them every few hours and they are doing fine.
“It’s not easy for us as we have the pigs and not really suited to cats. Still I couldn’t let them perish could I?
“We will keep them until they are weaned and then we’d like to find homes for them.”
