Peterborough workers used to sign up for funded training

The Amazon Career Choice programme encourages Amazon associates to pursue training and qualifications in high-demand fields such as engineering, IT, computer science, mechanical and electrical trades, healthcare, construction, transportation, logistics, accounting and more, even if that means a career outside Amazon.

Amazon pre-pays 95% of tuition and associated fees for the nationally recognised courses, up to £8,000 over four years.

Peterborough’s Orestas Stankus is one of hundreds of Amazon associates who have taken part in the programme. He is now encouraging his fellow employees to get involved.

Orestas has worked with Amazon for eight years and studied the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety with Amazon Career Choice.

“I’ve worked at Amazon for almost a decade and in that time, I’ve spent time in many different roles across the fulfilment centre. I’ve always had a natural passion for safety and a few years ago, I applied for a role on the Amazon Safety Team in Peterborough.

“It was during this time that I learned about the Amazon Career Choice Programme and felt that it would provide me with the perfect opportunity to get more qualifications in the field of health and safety, so I decided to apply.

“It has been a brilliant programme for me, helping to increase my skills and knowledge in an area that I’m really passionate about. I’ve even been promoted from Safety Coordinator to Safety Specialist during this time. I’d encourage everyone at Amazon in Peterborough to give Career Choice a try – you won’t look back!
