Peterborough MP Stewart Jackson voted in favour of bombing strikes on Syria to ‘protect British citizens.’

Both Mr Jackson and North West Cambridgeshire MP Shailesh Vara backed the air raids on so called Islamic State (IS) targets following a lengthy and passionate debate in Parliament last night.

This wasn’t a vote for war but to extend precision bombing attacks from Iraq to Syria against a barbaric death cult killing and raping women and seeking to impose a medieval state across the world.

Mr Jackson said he had been impressed with a speech by fellow MP Hilary Benn.

Mr Jackson said: “I read widely and listened to the whole debate. I respect those who came to a different conclusion.

“Hilary Benn’s speech was the best I’ve ever heard but this wasn’t a vote for war but to extend precision bombing attacks from Iraq to Syria against a barbaric death cult killing and raping women and seeking to impose a medieval state across the world and if they could, they would strike London as they did in Paris.

“Any MP who fails to protect our citizens shouldn’t be in the job.”
