The 21-year-old was riding a blue Gilera DNA 50 moped along the pavement in Lincoln Road, near to York Road, in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 3) when the collision happened.

It is believed he clipped a metal fence which separates the road from the footpath at about 1.10am, lost control and collided with a nearby lamp post.

He was taken to Peterborough City Hospital but later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where he remains in a critical condition.

PC Shaz Ali, from the road policing unit, said: “At the moment we do not know where the man lives, so I would ask anyone who thinks they may know the rider to contact us.”

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the road policing unit on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
