Residents can swim for free on the opening day of the new Peterborough Lido season on Saturday, May 23.

The soon-to-be-annouced new Mayor of Peterborough will be cutting the official ribbon.

The Lido, in Bishop’s Road, will open daily 9am-6pm (May to June) and 9am-8pm (July to September) with early Sunday swims from 7.30am.

A group of volunteers from Norwich & Peterborough Building Society have been helping the Lido get ready for its grand opening.

The 18-strong team from the society’s head office at Lynch Wood scrubbed the two pools, pulled up the many weeds and prepared the outdoor lockers to be used once again.

Lisa Beeton, internet customer services team manager at the society, said: “We really enjoyed our day at the Lido and it’s fantastic to see what a difference we made.

“All we need now is for a good summer so people can enjoy a swim.”
