Premier Inn is famous for its “A good night’s sleep or your money back” guarantee.

However, when fire broke out at the Ham Lane hotel in Ferry Meadows Peterborough at 3.13am on Friday, April 22, customers were told that the terms and conditions of the guarantee did not cover fire.

The hotel was evacuated and members of staff have received praise from guests for bringing out duvets to keep people warm as they waited in the cold, many in just their pyjamas.

And now the hotel chain has received more praise as it has waived its own terms and conditions and refunded guests disturbed by the fire as a “gesture of goodwill.”

The fire, which broke out in the bin store and spread to a covered walkway area, was accidental.
