Waitrose wedding gift rescue makes it a very lucky Friday 13th for Peterborough bride and groom

While Friday 13th is considered unlucky by some, that certainly proved not to be the case for Willow Eggleston and Michael Dines, whose wedding was given an extra special touch thanks to Peterborough's Waitrose store.

With their wedding just five hours away Willow, Michael and their son, Colin, set off to Waitrose in Mayor’s Walk, to purchase flowers to use in the bride and bridesmaids bouquets.

As luck would have it a fresh delivery of flowers had just arrived and was being unpacked and was being inspected and photographed by Kalie Carter, who just happened to be making a flying visit from flower suppliers, Butters, to check on quality.

Upon learning the reason for the soon-to-be-weds intended flower purchase and the tight timescale the branch sprang into action. Luckily Dawn Robinson, the Welcome Desk Partner, is incredibly creative and Kalie’s role within her company is as a product developer with responsibility for creating and designing bouquets!

After choosing their flowers the happy couple were ushered to a seat while Kalie taught Dawn how to hand tie, not only three beautiful bouquets for the bride and her two attendants, but also rose and freesia buttonholes for the groom’s party.

Young Colin wasn’t forgotten, and enjoyed a fresh smoothie from the in-store smoothie bar and a trip around the shop to choose a chocolate treat while he waited.

Willow said: “I can’t believe it, I actually can’t believe it. I shop here and was here just a few weeks ago taking part in a charity collection. I’ve always said it. Waitrose is amazing. You’ve made my day”.

The flowers and treats were all donated to the future Mr and Mrs Dines as a Wedding gift, along with the best wishes of the branch.
