The footage was captured on a car dashcam on Saturday, March 4, as Savi Cammarata and his wife crossed a zebra crossing under the Fletton flyover in Peterborough.

A driving school car, fitted with the dashcam, stops at the zebra crossing to allow people to cross. As the couple are half way across the road a Peugeot 206 overtakes the stationary car and continues across the zebra crossing almost hitting the pedestrians.

Clearly shocked, the pedestrians realise the stationary vehicle has captured the whole incident on camera and the driver kindly stops to provide them with the details.

Savi posted the video on Youtube saying: “This muppet nearly killed us!”

He told the Peterborough Telegraph: “Me and the wife were out for a walk, we crossed at that zebra crossing, it’s where Fletton Avenue converges into Whittlesey Road. “I immediately called the police but they asked if anyone was injured when I said no they would not come out so made us an appointment to make a statement today. I told them not to bother, how would they know if the driver was drunk or drugged days after the event?

“Anyway, I found the car, knocked on the owners door and showed them the footage on my laptop but no one in the house spoke English, they were Portuguese.

“I again informed the police and they said if I made a statement they would go round and caution them. I told them to forget it. Just imagine if we’d had a pushchair or buggy in front of us?”

The footage was captured by a KISS driving instructor who kindly provided the couple with a copy.
