Tributes to Peterborough care home residents who died after contracting coronavirus

Tributes have been paid to some of the residents who have died at Philia Lodge Care Home after contracting cronavirus.

Staff at the care home in Eastfield Road have been left heartbroken after six residents died after picking up the virus. Another is receiving end of life care as a result of the disease.

Ian Leverington (70), who was described as ‘a lovable person with a heart of gold. He would put the needs of his friends first, before his own. He loved to crack a joke and enjoyed life to the full.’
Gillian Howard (77) was described as ‘an extravagant person, who loved to talk. She enjoyed telling stories of her past and her connections with the royal family’ while George Smith (88) was said to be ‘a caring man, who has spent his whole life caring for his own loved ones. Even when he needed care and support himself, he always looked after the ladies in the home.’
Peggy Grainger (86) was described as: “was a gentle, loving person, who always put her family first. They were her life and she loved to see each new addition as her family grew with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her face would light up at the sight of the little ones when they came to visit her at the home.”
