Tommy Robson: Peterborough says farewell to a legend

Peterborough United fans of all ages came together to celebrate the life of one of the greatest to ever pull on Posh’s famous blue shirt.

The funeral of Tommy Robson was held today, and fans gathered at the London Road stadium he graced for more than a decade.

Tommy died earlier this month after a battle with Motor Neurone Disease.

He had become one of the most respected faces in the city he had made his home after leaving his native Newcastle in the 1960s, and had been given the freedom of Peterborough earlier this year.

Former team mates including John Cozens, Bert Murray and David Llewellyn - who all played alongside Tommy in the 1974 title winning team - and Noel Luke were among the mourners at Peterborough Crematorium this afternoon.

There were floral tributes from Peterborough United, Newcastle United and Chelsea, as well as from family members.
