Road closed to explode WW1 bomb found under bridge

Police have released a video of the moment a First World War bomb was exploded.

At 10am on Sunday a member of the public reported to Cambridgeshire police that he had found an item that he believed to be a Second World War bomb under the road bridge on the A1101 at Tydd Gote.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers attended the scene and called the Military EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal to the scene. EOD confirmed that the item was an old World War One bomb.

“The A1101 was closed for a short time while the device was moved to a field and two controlled explosions were carried out to make the item safe.

“What was left of the device has been removed by the military.

“The person did the right thing, but if you find anything like this in the Future, do not touch, pick up or remove the item and contact the police.”
