The Addison Arms, which is still delivering to those who need meals, have been touched by some customers paying for other’s meals.

What started out as one generous anonymous donor, paying for dozens of meals for others, has led to others returning the kind gesture. One special meal, happened to be for two customers celebrating their wedding anniversary.

Ray Groves, landlord of the Glatton pub, said: “Our first donor usually pays it forward with people’s food shopping in Tesco. They can’t do that any more so they wanted people to still enjoy a good meal. It’s amazing, there are now ten people doing it in the community. There has been a lot of negativity around recently, so it’s nice to see people share the love. We need to stick together and be as helpful as we can be. We’re being careful with our deliveries.”

The pub has also waived payment for customers who are in particularly difficult situations. Ray said: “We had a call from a customer. She didn’t know what to do, or how to get any food to her.

“It bought it home if she had the courage to pick up the phone, how many won’t? Payments can be sorted out whenever. It really hit home that although we need to make money, we need to do it in the right way.”
