PT readers share the best photos they’ve taken of the city and its surroundings

We asked you to send in your finest snaps of the city – and you didn’t disappoint

While it may not be as grand as Paris, as striking as New York or as historic as Rome, Peterborough is – in many ways – a hugely photogenic city.

From its splendid cathedra and stately civic buildings to its leafy green areas and fine public spaces, our fine old city has plenty to draw the eye – and the photographer’s lens.

It was with this in mind that we put a call out recently asking for you, our ever-obliging readers, to send us the best photos you had taken of Peterborough and its surrounding areas.

And boy you didn’t disappoint.

Within 24 hours we received literally hundreds of top-notch photos showcasing the city in myriad different ways.

While some contributions were of iconic landmarks and popular beauty spots like Peterborough Cathedral, Ferry Meadows and Central Park, others were of less celebrated features, like residential streets, quiet river walks and tucked away buildings.

Along with pictures sent in from people who were obviously keen photographers, we also received snaps taken by sharp-eyed amateurs who managed to capture something special or unusual on their smartphones.

Whittling the hundreds of pictures that were sent in down to just 15 was not an easy process. In fact, we may well need to publish a follow-up article as we still have so many great shots that deserve to be shared.

For now though, sit back and enjoy scrolling through this delightful gallery of photos taken in and around Peterborough by talented PT readers.
