Peterborough politicians wish PM Boris Johnson well in his battle with coronavirus

Politicians have come together to wish Prime Minister Boris Johnson well after he was put in intensive care last night as he battles coronavirus.

Councillor John Holdich, leader of Peterborough City Council, said: “Like many of us, I was shocked when I heard the news last night that Boris Johnson’s symptoms had worsened. My thoughts and prayers are with the Prime Minister and his family and I wish him a full recovery.”

Peterborough MP Paul Bristow said: “Get well soon Boris Johnson. A brilliant PM and whatever you think of him - soon to be a father and husband. Your family and your country needs you!”

North West Cambridgeshire MP Shailesh Vara tweeted: “My thoughts this evening are with @BorisJohnson and @carriesymonds. Very best wishes to both at this difficult time.”

Councillor Steve Count, leader of Cambridgeshire County Council, said: “We are all thinking of the Prime Minister and his family. I’m sure he will be heartened to see all the messages of support that have gathered online overnight when he makes a full recovery.”
