Peterborough Market Food Hall to re-open tomorrow after positive COVID tests

Peterborough Market’s Food Hall will re-open tomorrow after two staff members tested positive for coronavirus.

The food hall was closed earlier this week following the tests, but the remainder of the market stayed open.

Today Rob Hill, assistant director for community safety at Peterborough City Council, said: “We are planning to reopen the Food Hall at Peterborough Market tomorrow (Thursday 9 July), subject to any new information coming in between now and then.

“The Food Hall has been deep cleaned following the positive tests of two people working there. Test and trace will now be contacting people who were in close contact with the cases and providing advice and information.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and should further issues arise then of course we will take action.

“Our environmental health team will be working with stall holders at the market to ensure their stalls, for which they are responsible, are safe for themselves and customers. We would ask that all individuals working and visiting the Food Hall and the wider market follow the government guidance on social distancing, good hand hygiene and wearing a face covering when in enclosed public spaces where you cannot stay two metres apart. “
