After a series of knock-backs, Danny rose to the fight, battling severe weather conditions, a broken bike and a serious injury.

Inspired by local charity the Brotherhood Foundation - which was set up in memory of Glenn Boocock - Danny wanted to raise money for them to fit another defibrillator. A keen athlete, Danny already plays for three football teams but wanted a sporty challenge.

Starting out in November, he set his sights on finishing by Christmas Day but after suffering an injury and his bike breaking, he took a break. Unwilling to let anything stop him, Danny persevered on, even clocking up his last miles in the midst of Storm Dennis.

Danny said: “After a very long time I’ve finally finished. I want to thank everyone who has supported me and came out to ride with me, through all the mud and rain.” After counting all of his donations he has raised more than £1,000.

Mum Zoe White was beaming with pride at her son’s accomplishments. She said: “Danny is a huge inspiration to teenagers. Once he has something set in his mind he likes to take action. He’s already asking what he can do next!

“I cannot possibly put into words how proud I am of him. I’d really like to thank Woodston Cycles for repairing and servicing his bike.”

Aaron Parker from the Brotherhood Foundation was delighted to hear Danny had succeeded. He said: “The Brotherhood Foundation would like to thank Danny for his support in raising funds for a defibrillator. Although he has had some trouble along the way we are sure people can find this a great achievement for a 14-year-old;”

The Brotherhood Foundation set itself up in memory of their beloved friend Glenn who died. The group’s aim is to raise enough money to fit defibrillators across pubs in Peterborough to help those in need.
