Part of Lincoln Road in Peterborough was cordoned off last night after a street light exploded.
Emergency services were called at 4.20pm, and cordoned off the street outside the Sue Ryder Charity Shop.
A police spokesman said there had been ‘reports of a street light exploding and catching fire.’
The spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances.
A spokesperson for Peterborough City Ccouncil said: “We received a report from the fire service yesterday at 4.37pm stating that a street light was on fire and officers from UK Power Networks were already on site.
“An officer from Skanksa attended and removed the bracket, took the lantern away and made the site safe. The street light will be replaced and once we’ve received a full report we should know the cause.”
