Princess Anne arrived by helicopter at a Peterborough farm today (September 20) to give a royal touch to a national trophy presentation.
The Princess Royal landed at Pode Hole Farm in Thorney in her capacity as patron of the Beef Shorthorn Cattle Society to present the national herd competition trophy.
Farm owner Charles and Sally Horrell, who have won the trophy for the last two years, were judges for this year’s contest. This year the trophy went to a breed from a Yorkshire farm.
Mr Horrell said: “It was a great honour to welcome the Princess Royal to the farm.
“As well as presenting the trophy she met guests at four workshops covering a range of issues including soil and pasture management and performance recording and classification
“We had about 150 people from all parts of the country and from overseas.
"The Princess said she was delighted to be part of the society and wished everyone well for the future.”
