The service will end at approximately 12.30pm and will be followed by a short private committal for the immediate family nearby.

A reception, to which all attending are most welcome, will be held at the Parkway Sports & Social Club, Maskew Avenue, PE1 2AS, from 12.30pm onwards.

The family ask for no flowers but if you are willing to provide a donation towards the upkeep of the cathedral it will be warmly received and provide a permanent legacy to Dereck and his life here in Peterborough.

Dereck was renowned across Peterborough for the running of Brown’s Dancentre, in Lincoln Road, Millfield, where he taught countless students alongside wife Edna.

He passed away peacefully last Sunday (July 24) aged 88.

Tributes have been flooding in ever since, including from Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman.

Donations to the cathedral can be made on its website.
