Fourteenth patient with coronavirus dies at Peterborough City Hospital

A fourteenth patient with coronavirus has died at Peterborough City Hospital, it has been announced.

This morning the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust said 23 patients had died at their hospitals after contracting the virus since March 24 - 14 in Peterborough and nine at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

Yesterday (Monday) the trust said 13 patients had died in Peterborough, and eight at Hinchingbrooke.

Today Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, a total of 23 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been nine at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and fourteen at Peterborough City Hospital. Patients were aged 30 to 90 years old and had pre-existing health conditions. They had all tested positive for COVID-19.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients’ families and loved ones at this difficult time.”

Yesterday Government figures showed there were 61 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Peterborough - up 13 from the previous day.

The figure for confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cambridgeshire now stands at 222, up 10 from 212 yesterday. In Lincolnshire there are 275 confirmed cases, while in Northamptonshire there are 428 cases.

Across England there have been 51,608 confirmed cases, and 5,373 deaths.
