Organisers say work is under way to stage some form of fireworks celebration on the Bonfire Night weekend.

It is hoped that up to 1,000 cars will be allowed on to the Arena site where the occupants will be able to see the display.

It is hoped the show will take place on November 7 although it may be possible to include a second night.

Venue director Jason Lunn said discussions were still ongoing with a fireworks specialist.

The number of people who would be able to watch the show this year will be a lot less than the 13,000 people who attended the Arena’s Fireworks Fantasia last year.

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of this year’s Fantasia celebration because of concerns about ensuring social distancing among such a large crowd of people leaving the venue at the same time.
