“This was a gradual procedure in which he started off in a ward; as his health worsened on a daily basis he was moved into intensive care on the March 31.

“The hospital staff were monitoring him regularly and I cannot thank them enough.

“I used to ring them at least five to six times a day. Night time staff was so helpful and the consultant and doctor would often update me.

“Fortunately, on April 16 he was moved into B12 ward and discharged on Friday (April 24).”

While Khalid, the owner of ZK Property Peterborough Portfolio, is recovering, other members of his family have also been hit by the virus. Zahid said: “We as a family are grateful towards the NHS for saving the life of a man with a family of three and would like to show that gratitude by publishing our first hand experience with the NHS.”

Khalid lives in Orton Loungeville with his family whom have also been self-isolating themselves after falling ill. His daughter who recently completed her law degree was critically ill two weeks ago, but is showing good signs of strength which Zahid said was ‘a great stress relief for the family.’
