Nine brave souls took part in a tandem skydive at Sibson airfield, raising over £7,000 for Kidney Research UK.

Among the nine were Kelly Doble and Hannah Dale. Kelly’s partner Mark Wakefield was due to take part but he died six weeks ago, so Hannah stepped in to do the jump in his memory.

Kidney disease is a silent killer affecting millions of people everyday, yet treatment can be gruelling and there is no cure.

Marc Shaw, head of community events fundraising at the charity said: “The challenges kidney patients and their families face would be too much for most of us, but to then take on such a huge commitment and jump out of a plane just shows how important research is to them.

“Our work offers a lifeline to our amazing supporters, without their fundraising support we could not make the research breakthroughs needed to improve their lives and give hope for the future!

“Next year is Kidney Research UK’s 60 th anniversary and we are looking for 60 people to jump for us in Peterborough for World Kidney Day in March. Take the plunge and sign up.”
