MYSTERY surrounds the cause of a fire which set alight a stretch of conifers in a street in Orton Malborne on Thursday evening (10 November).
A fire crew from Stanground were called at around 5.35pm yesterday to attend a blaze consuming a 10-metre stretch of conifers in Weatherthorn, Orton Malborne. It was extinguished by 6.15pm.
A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said the cause was unknown.
Resident Michael Storer caught the fire on camera, sending his photos to the ET.
He said: “It came close to the garden shed and was on one of the roads near us. It seems like no-one knows how it started. The fire brigade arrived and easily got it under control, luckily, before it could spread.”
