At Posh matches I’m all in favour of remembering anyone with a strong connection to the club like Chris Turner with a period of silence.
But forced reflection on international tragedies leave me confused especially as there is little consistency in who or what is remembered.
The atrocities in Paris were horrible and the worldwide sympathy generated as a result was both honest and heartfelt. It was when even more people had been murdered on a Russian plane and yet I wasn’t asked to remember them.
The tribute at the England/France game was such a moving experience, booming out the French National Anthem before every Premier League match the following weekend was always likely to be less effective.
