Self-inflicted Spurs wounds, a terrible result for boxing and a great result for rugby union

Spurs' transfer policy (i.e. don't sign anyone at all) is biting them in the backside.

All it took was for Dele Alli to pick up an injury and for Harry Kane to finally succumb to an absurd workload for Spurs to fall apart.

Liverpool would have stuck six past them at Wembley last weekend if their forwards weren’t such a greedy, selfish bunch.

The Reds need to note how many tap-ins Manchester City’s stars score because they always look for a better placed team-mate.

But at least it’s shaping into a much better Premier League title race this season.

It’s a two-horse race as there is no chance Chelsea will maintain current results while they have Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata as their main strikers. No matter how well Eden Hazard plays.

A TERRIBLE RESULT FOR BOXING

Canelo Alvarez’s win over Gennady Golovkin was a terrible result for boxing. Alvarez won an admittedly gripping fight on points soon after completing a six-month ban for failing a drugs test. That’s no punishment at all in boxing as fighters tend to fight once a year. The chance to win two world titles shouldn’t come so quickly or so easily to a man guilty of committing such a serious offence.

A GREAT RESULT FOR RUGBY UNION

Outstanding drama as South Africa held on to beat the All Blacks in Wellington last weekend despite enduring some strange officiating from self-absorbed official Nigel Owens in the latter stages. The All Blacks remain a reliable kicker away from being unbeatable though.
