Letter: ‘Why no diving facilities at new pool?’

Peterborough Telegraph reader Martin Copsey is concerned about the lack of diving facilities at Peterborough’s planned new pool.
Should there be diving facilities at Peterborough's new pool?Should there be diving facilities at Peterborough's new pool?
Should there be diving facilities at Peterborough's new pool?

I am disappointed to read in the PT (September 3) that the plans for the new swimming pool include no diving facilities.

I started diving at age 60 to challenge my fear of heights and, before the lockdown, I used the boards four or five times a week - only missing the Saturday sessions if Posh were playing at home.

From beginners to the experienced, the boards attract divers of all ages.

Few activities can be more unnatural than hurling oneself headfirst from a height, so when a beginner finds the courage to do this, their self-confidence is boosted and they then know that they can rise to any challenge. And diving is an Olympic sport!

A sport which has seen many medals won by British divers!

Please don’t deny local youngsters the chance to participate - and perhaps excel.
