Samantha Walker was an inspirational character and someone who had become well known to us here at the PT.

Quiet, friendly and unassuming she was grateful but slightly abashed when presented with a PT Pride award in 2013 and received a standing ovation.

She was featured regularly in the paper because of her fundraising successes despite her many extremely serious health challenges.

This week, it’s with deep sadness that we report her passing. Our hearts go out to her husband Lee, three beloved children William, Lilly and Isabelle, her mum Mandy and all her family and many friends.

Saying that someone was an inspiration to us all has become something of a cliche, but in Samantha’s case it really was true.

Her courage was inspirational, her fortitude in the face of daunting setbacks incredible, but the fact that she did so much to help others despite her own problems was even more special. She was hugely admired and will be greatly missed.

Don’t be a dozy parker

Poor and dangerous parking outside city schools is becoming a major issue. One school has seen more than 60 fines handed out yet the problem still persists.

Parents are busy and in many cases it can be difficult to find somewhere to park. But there’s no excuse for parking that puts youngsters in danger.

Park safely, and if that means a five or ten minute walk then so be it. The possible consequences of the alternative are unthinkable.
