Corey Foster (15) was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in September 2016.

He spent seven months in hospital in Cambridge away from his family battling to stay alive- and is now in partial remission after nearly two years of treatment.

The teenager, who has a passion for performing, joined the Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity Choir at an event at The Fragrance Shop in London last week - and as they were performing to celebrate the chain raising £1million for UK children’s charities, the choir were joined by Corey’s favourite singer, Olly Murs.

The choir is made up of nine children, all aged between nine and 15, who have serious illnesses.

Mum Kerry-Ann said: “He joined the choir because he loves to sing, act and dance.

“The parents knew someone was in the back and going to surprise the choir, but they didn’t know anything.

“When Olly came out, Corey’s face was a picture - Olly is his idol - it is who he wants to be like.

“He managed to keep on singing, but you could see he was so excited - some of the other children were in tears, they were so excited.

“He was gobsmacked when it was finished.

“Corey has met Olly before - and this time Olly went straight up to him and put his arm around him - he remembered him from the previous time.”

Olly, who is an ambassador for the Rays of Sunshine charity, said: “The choir are all amazing and to join them on stage when they are all singing their hearts out was an absolutely brilliant experience.”
