New homes funding for homeless families

Funding of nearly £5 million for 30 new homes to reduce homelessness in Peterborough is set to be agreed.

The homes would be built in Belle Vue, Stanground, opposite the skate park, should planning permission be granted.

The £4.9 million funding for the homes will be granted from Peterborough City Council to Medesham Homes - a joint housing venture between the council and housing association Cross Keys Homes.

The properties would be used for homeless households in Peterborough, which in turn would help the council save money.

It is forecast that the homes will become available for use from June to December next year.
