The Nene Parkway in Peterborough has re-opened following a car fire at Thorpe Wood.

Emergency services were called at 10am to the blaze, which forced the north bound carriageway to be shut.

A green Ford KA had caught fire on the bridge over the river, about 50 yards from the northbound junction with Thorpe Wood.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service had extinguished the blaze by 10.15am, and the road was re-opened shortly afterwards.
