Students at Nene Park Academy joined their principal Steve Howard to hand over a cheque for £6,438 to Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.

The motivation behind the fundraising was to support the Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust’s ‘Martin’s Mondays’ campaign.

The campaign is raising money in memory of the highly respected former executive principal of the academy, Martin Bacon, who passed away in 2013 and was cared for at the Peterborough hospice.

The academy has been fundraising in a variety of ways such as raffle draws, cake sales and non uniform days.

Martin’s wife Kathleen was invited to Thorpe Hall to receive the cheque on behalf of Sue Ryder.
