Mystery as cannonball pulled from Peterborough river

Bomb disposal experts were called to the city last night as a cannonball was recovered from the River Nene in Peterborough last night.

Police were called at about 6.25pm on Monday (31 August) to reports of a cannonball being pulled from the water by a member of the public at The Embankment in Peterborough.

Officers attended and contacted the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) who safely removed the object
