Man who assaulted reveller outside Peterborough nightspot is fined

A man who punched an injured reveller outside a Peterborough night spot has been fined at court.

Lloyd Hook (21) of Daniels Crescent, Long Sutton, punched the man in the face outside The Red Room in Broadway, Peterborough city centreat just after midnight on July 6 last year.

He admitted assault by beating, and was fined £500 at a hearing at Peterborough Crown Court yesterday (Friday).

Charles Snelling, prosecuting, told Peterborough Crown Court the victim had been attacked inside the club moments before Hook punched him.

The victim managed to make it outside the club following the original attack, when Hook ran up and punched him.

The assault was spotted by a police officer, who arrested him.

The victim needed hospital treatment.

Claire Howell, defending, said: “He has lost his full time job as a builder, but still does cash in hand jobs.

“He and his partner have two small children.

“He was not the initial aggressor.”

The court was also told Hook has 12 convictions for 25 previous offences recorded against him, including matters of assault, wounding and actual bodily harm.

Judge Garath Hawkesworth said; “It is quite evident from your antecedents that you are a man who is prepared to use your fists when it suits you.”
