Magdalen deaths: Inquest date is set

The aunt and uncle of lotto winner Michael Carroll both died from shotgun wounds to the head and had to be identified by DNA, an inquest heard today.

Stephen John Muncaster, 47, and his wife, Alison Muncaster, 48, were discovered on July 12 in what is thought to be an act of murder-suicide.

The pair were identified through DNA evidence and assistant coroner Johanna Thompson for Norfolk Coroner’s Court said their joint inquest would be held on January 5 next year.

It is understood Mr Muncaster shot his wife at their home in Stow Road, in Magdalen before shooting himself in the head in their front garden.

It is thought the couple had been together for around 10 years the bungalow had been built following Mr Carroll’s £10 million lottery win in 2003.

Ms Thompson said: “The circumstances are that Mrs Muncaster was found in the home by police with what appeared to be gunshot injuries to the head.”

She added that a post-mortem examination confirmed they died from wounds inflicted by a shotgun.

Mr Muncaster died from a similar injury to the head.
