CRICKET: Dave Gillett hit a stylish 138 and then Lee Peacock smashed the last ball of the match for six to help Deeping reach 316-6 and beat Messingham’s 313-8 in the Lincs Premier Division.

CRICKET: Peterborough Town were ripped apart by Finedon in the Northants League at Bretton Gate. David Clarke and Saleem Mohammed both made 36 but they were the only Town batsmen to make any headway as Finedon dismissed them for 113. The visitors then raced to 116-3.

POSH: Young centre-half Sean St Ledger spent a week on trial with Championship club Birmingham City. No bid was made for the 21 year-old at the end of the week so he opened talks with Preston North End.

ATHLETICS: Peterborough Athletic Club’s 20 year-old all-rounder Louise Hazel finished fourth in a European Cup heptathlon in France.

CRICKET: Youngsters Mark Wheat and Jamie Smith shone as Peterborough Town beat Market Deeping by 76 runs in the Rutland League. Wheat made 78 as Town totalled 300-6 (Ajaz Akhtar top-scored with 79) and then Smith took 5-46 as Deeping were all out for 224.

CRICKET: Peterborough Town beat Northants League rivals Wolverton by 119 runs. Alan Swann (69) and Mark Drake (66) steered Town to 226-6 and Ajaz Akhtar (4-60) and Dominic Ralfs (5-30) shone with the ball.

CRICKET: David Christmas took 7-12 off 16 overs as Bourne thrashed Market Deeping by nine wickets in the South Lincs League.

POSH: New Posh manager Barry Fry made his first signing as Zeke Rowe joined the club on a free transfer from Premiership giants Chelsea.

CRICKET: Tabs Hanif smashed 118 for Elton Park as they beat Newage by 90 runs in the Rutland League.

CRICKET: Nenedale crushed Newborough by six wickets to reach their fifth consecutive Jubilee Shield final. Mark Goodale top-scored with 40 out of Newborough’s 96-9 and then Gordon Steele made Nenedale’s top score of 28.

SPEEDWAY: Carl Baldwin (11 points) top-scored for Panthers in a 49-29 win over Canterbury at Alwalton.

CRICKET: Coates’ Nicky Gilbert took 7-3 in a friendly win over Christchurch, who were all out for 19.

GOLF: Richard Allan won a portable black and white television after taking the honours in Peterborough Milton’s Captain’s Day competition with 38 points.

SPEEDWAY: Panthers’ teenage star Ian Clark suffered a broken leg when crashing during a 60-18 win against Paisley at The Showground. Steve Taylor was Panthers’ top scorer with 15 points.

CRICKET: Alan Tait scored a brilliant 118 not out for Peterborough Town against Collingham.

CRICKET: Nenedale beat Castor by 20 runs to knock them off the top of the Peterborough League. Nenedale were all out for 133 and then skittled Castor for 113 with Ian Williamson taking 5-42.

GOLF: Burghley Park’s Mark James qualified for the British Open with rounds of 68 and 71 at Hillside.
