Over 30 people turned up at the pub in Highbury Street, off Lincoln Road, last week and pledged money towards buying it off Enterprise Inns.

Money is being raised through the selling of shares (a minimum of 10 per person) costing £100 each. One person has even pledged to buy £10,000 worth.

Over 100 people have so far made a pledge to buy shares.

The vice chairman of the Peterborough branch of CAMRA, Matthew Mace, is leading the crowdfunding push.

He said: “There are a lot of beer enthusiasts looking to put money in. It helps that the Hand is nationally known as a very good pub for its interior and quality.”

The campaign’s tag lines are “give us a grand for the Hand,” and “putting the Hand in the Heart of the community.” To get in touch with Matthew, call him on 07809629241 or email [email protected].
