A LEVELS 2016: Big rise in top grades at March academy

Forty-five per cent of entries achieved A* to B grades, up 12 per cent on last year.

The school’s overall pass rate was 98.6 per cent, with 100 per cent passes in 25 out of 27 subject areas.

And officials say all students have achieved the grades they needed to secure places at the first choice universities.

Principal Jason Wing said: “We are delighted with the results as they reflect the hard work of the students, teachers and support staff at the academy.”

Carole Spibey, the academy’s assistant principal for post-16 education, added: “Seeing the students receive their results this morning and meet their university offers has been fantastic.

“The results this year really show that our students have high aspirations for their future studies and careers.

“The increase in attainment of higher grades in both A-level and vocational courses is testimony to the students’ hard work, ambition and dedication to achieving their goals.

“They have been a fantastic group and I wish them every success for their next steps.”

Among the school’s best performing students were Emily Tsang (A* in Biology, A* in Mathematics and A in Chemistry), Chloe Baxter (A in Biology, A in Geography and A in Mathematics), Laura Petraskuite (A in Business Studies, A in Mathematics, B in History) and Zoe Nosworthy (A* in Geography, A in Mathematics and B in Music).
