A LEVEL RESULTS: '˜A joy to see students at Bourne Grammar School collect results'

Two students, Anjuli Banerjee and Caleb Carver, have won places at medical schools, amongst the most difficult courses to gain admission to. Anjuli will study to become a doctor at Cambridge and Caleb will do the same at Newcastle.

Anjuli Banerjee, George Cooper (who will read Mathematics at Oxford) and George Hick all achieved clean sweeps of A* grades. In total, 27 students achieved at least one A* grade amongst their three or four A-Level subjects and 58 students achieved at least one A grade. A most impressive 24 students achieved A* or A grades in all their subjects.

Across all 132 students, with 397 A-Level grades amongst them, the pass rate rate was 99.5 per cent.

64 per cent of all A Level grades were grade B or better. 31.2 per cent were grade A or better and, impressively, 10% of all A-Level grades were at the very highest A* level.

The school’s Year 12 students, who take AS examinations at the end of their first year in the sixth form, produced exceptional results which augur well for their A-Levels.They are in a very strong position as they work on their university applications over the coming months. Improving even on last year’s strong AS results, this year’s are especially pleasing as they are the first that our students have obtained under the new, considerably more demanding, linear A-Level courses.
