Investigation begins after major blaze off A605 spreads to lorry trailer and forklift truck
An investigation has begun after a major blaze in Whittlesey overnight.
Four fire crews and a water carrier were called to a large fire in Funtham’s Lane off the A605 at 11.46pm on Tuesday.
The fire involved pallets and plastics which spread to a lorry trailer and forklift truck.
The road was closed until around 5.30am this morning.
A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “The high winds made tackling the fire challenging but crews did a great job in bringing it under control and preventing it from spreading further.
“The fire was out at around 6.10am and a crew remains on scene to deal with any hotspots and continue to dampen down.
“The A605 was closed to protect motorists due to the intensity of the heat from the fire.
“A full fire investigation will take place this morning to determine the cause.”
