Staff at an NHS-run referral centre in Peterborough had more reason than most to celebrate on New Year’s Eve.
December 31 saw the 40,000th referral at the Advice and Referral Centre which is run by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) and based at the Gloucester Centre, Orton Longueville, Peterborough.
The centre provides advice and guidance to GPs and other healthcare professionals who want to refer adults to the services run by the Trust.
The centre, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, opened in August 2012.
Administrator Anthea Greenwood who dealt with the milestone referral, said: “It’s a real landmark for the team and goes to prove how many people have required the services of CPFT since the centre was opened.”
Sue Tolland, service manager at the Trust , said: “I am proud of all the hard work and resilience of the staff and how the Advice and Referral Service has developed since it began.”
