A hair-raising event for charity

A group of hairdressers from Peterborough, are swapping the comfort of their salon for the great outdoors, taking on an epic skydive in aid of charity.

Nisha Ricorda, 26, Jemma Ridlington, 23 and Laura Baxter, 25, from Pkai Hair Serpentine Green and Laura Chadwick, 30, from Pkai Hair Market Deeping, will all take on the hair raising challenge at Sibson on May 2.

Laura Baxter, manager of the salon at Hampton, who organised the skydive said: “I’ve always wanted to do something a bit daring to help raise funds for charity, so this was the perfect opportunity.

“I couldn’t have done it on my own, so I was delighted when three of my fellow colleagues said they would join me.”

The group of girls will be raising funds for Sue Ryder’s Thorpe Hall Hospice in Longthorpe.

“We all know someone that has been cared for at Thorpe Hall,” said fellow skydiver Jemma Ridlington. “So we thought it would be a great local charity to support and raise money for.”

So far the salon alone has raised more than £400 towards the skydive, donated by generous clients. From cake sales, to a fabulous raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses, the girls have been hosting a number of events to try and raise as much money as possible.

As for the big day, which is soon approaching, the group is mainly ‘excited’ about taking part in such a daring event, although Laura adds: “Everyone else at the salon thinks we’re mad!”
