The biggest day in the calendar for politicians is fast approaching, but one long-standing Peterborough City Councillor had a more pressing date on his mind when over Easter.
The council’s deputy leader, Councillor John Holdich, spent Good Friday surrounded by children and grandchildren to mark his 50th anniversary with wife Barbara.
John (70) and Barbara (68) of Rectory Lane, Glinton, were joined by son Simon (46) and daughter Lisa (44) as well as his five grandchildren and friends at Wildwood restaurant.
The family enjoyed a meal before watching the film ‘What we did on our holiday’ in the restaurant’s private cinema area.
John said: “When we first married we lived in a caravan with no hot water or a toilet. What makes a good marriage is working together to build your home.
“Our children are our absolute highlights. Barbara is such a kind person.
“We are still such good friends that every time I open my mouth she knows what I am going to say.”
