Golden couple return to where it all began
As they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, David and Jill Buddle returned to where their romance first blossomed - at the Gordon Arms in Oundle Road.
Jill (73) met David (77), now both of Woodston, when she stopped into the pub with Orton Park Cricket Club, where David was drinking, and their first date was a Western BBQ at Orton Waterville Village Hall. Asked for the secret of their marriage, Jill said: “I think you have to have a lot of give and take. He has always allowed me my independence.”
The couple also celebrated their anniversary last Saturday at The Woodman in Longthorpe where their daughter Sue is the manager. Jill’s four bridesmaids and David’s best man both attended the party and lined up in the same order as the couple’s wedding day. Jill added: “It was a lovely, lovely day.”
