Further eviction notices served on travellers in Peterborough and police called to abuse incident

Police and Peterborough City Council have been called to a number of traveller encampments in the city this week.

Police were called at 11.06am on Monday, August 15, with reports of an abusive conversation between a traveller and a member of the public on the field near the entrance of the Lynch Wood Business Park, where an encampment has been set up.

A police spokesman said no threats or harm to life were made.

Peterborough City Council has said it is aware of the encampment on the land at Lynch Wood and has alerted the landowner as it is private land.

There are also encampments at Cuckoo’s Hollow in Werrington where the process to evict them has begun, and at Thurning Avenue in Stanground, where an eviction notice was served yesterday afternoon giving them until 2pm today, Wednesday August 17, to leave
